Thomson-Hood Veterans Center is a 285 bed long term skilled nursing care center in Wilmore, Kentucky.  We have an annual Veterans Appreciation Picnic the 2nd Saturday in August every year to honor our lost and current veterans.  We have bands and plenty of activities.  The Traveling Wall will be coming to the facility along with an escort and this will progress as we get closer but, Doc Russo with the Traveling Wall brought to our attention your fleet of “Schneider Ride of Pride” for events such as ours.  We are extremely excited about this year with the upscale event including the 3/5 scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall and would like to invite you to be a part of the parade and if possible, return on that Saturday for the event.  The Wall will be arriving at the facility on the 6th  of August for assembly and open to the public on the 7th, 8th and 9th and disassembled on the 10th.  We will be able to provide more information closer to the event.

We were fortunate to have a smaller scale replica last year that individuals had built and erected here for the three days and it was visited and reflected upon by our guys and gals the entire time, including our staff.  Please let me know if you are available for those dates of the 6th for the parade and the 8th for the picnic.  I sincerely thank you for your respect to our military and honor of those who have fought, and continue to fight for the freedoms we have in the USA.

Frankfort, KY.
May 9, 10 & 11
Hello fellow PGR riders, with the first day of spring only weeks away it time to start thinking about the Spring 2014 GOTG. This year we will spend the weekend near our State Capital and where horses live like Kings and Queens. Lexington and Versailles are home to some of the largest horse farms in the Country. The Kentucky Derby will not end after the first Saturday in May, as we will be touring one of Kentucky's most prestigious horse farm. On Saturday after riding through some of Lexington beautiful back roads and miles and miles of white fences we will gear down to take a behind the seen tour of a horse farm that turns young horses into two year old derby winners. After a day of action packed fun we are hosting a Texas Holdem Tournament run by Tom Folsom.
Mark your calendars and make your reservations at the Best Western Parkside Inn in Frankfort, KY. 80 Chenault Drive (502) 695-6111. I have reserved a blocked of rooms under "Kentucky Patriot Guards" name. The rate is $75.00 per night and that includes a hot breakfast with pancakes, waffles, biscuits & gravy, cereal, oatmeal, fruit and more.
A full agenda will be posted and sent out as plans get final approval. Please fill free to contact me with any questions or concerns. With any outdoor activities in the spring is that nasty four letter word...rain. So lets all band together and think good thoughts for sunny days.

We have been asked by the Daughters of the American Revolution to come & set up flags and help as they have a memorial service to honor  a Confederate Soldier. It will be Sunday, October 6th at the Soldier Creek Cemetery, just off hwy 58 in Marshal County. They ask that we be there around 1:30 as it will start at 2 p.m. We plan on setting up flags to mark the entrance and also help get the people parked as space is somewhat limited. We will also set up a flag line as the ceremony is conducted. We will be staging at pockets Shell in Mayfield at 12:45 with kickstands up at 1. This is NOT an official PGR mission, but is one I feel we should attend. Any questions can be sent to me & I will try to answer them for you. Lets have a good turn-out as we honor an American soldier.

TEAM, here are the dates and times for this year's Fall Gathering. Please get it to all of your TEAM. Hope to see everyone there.

September 6-7-8, 2013
Hello Everyone,
It’s time for the Gathering of the Guard for the fall of 2013.  The GOTG will take place in eastern KY under the direction of Tom Epperly.  This will include Friday for arrival time, Saturday will be a PGR run through some of eastern Kentucky’s beautiful countryside  with a stop to visit with MoH recipient Ernie West, followed by dinner at the Texas Roadhouse.  (In case of inclimate weather making it too dangerous to ride the route, we will be headed to Carter Caves to do a little spelunking instead of the run.)  There will be a lunch available at the lodge.  There is a bonfire planned for Saturday night after dinner for everyone to join in, relax and enjoy the company of fellow Patriot Guard Riders.  This will be a “BYOB” situation.  Other non-alcoholic beverages to include water, will be provided.
Make your reservations at the Grayson, KY Quality  Inn at 606.474.7854.  I have reserved a block of rooms under the “Patriot Guard” name.  The specially discounted room rate for the PGR is $58.65 plus tax.  These are newly remodeled rooms which include a microwave, mini-fridge, and coffee pot.  There is also a free breakfast which includes (but not limited to) biscuits and gravy, sausage, cereal, waffles, and fruit.  Grayson offers additional amenities such as grocery stores, multiple restaurants, and Grayson State Park.  Carter Caves is located to the  northwest within 20 minutes of the Quality Inn.  Grayson State Park is located 15 minutes to the south and Ashland is located 20 minutes to the east.
These arrangements will be flexible and subject to change depending on weather patterns.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at the number listed below.
